We've recently upgraded our feedback system.
Instead of the old smiley-based system, users can now rate one another using a 5-star rating system. 

Note: Currently, this is only available on the website. We hope to expand this to our mobile apps soon. 

What happened to my old ratings?

Your previous ratings haven't been lost. They've been converted into the new 5-star system:

• 🙂 Positive > ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 stars)
• 😐 Neutral > ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 stars)
• ☹ Negative > ⭐⭐ (2 stars)

Your overall rating is now shown as an average score based on all your past and new ratings.

What will I see on a user's profile?

User profiles now include:

• The average star rating (e.g. 4.1 out of 5)
• The total number of ratings received
• The breakdown of rating attributes, such as:
  • Communication
  • Reliability
  • Fair negotiation
  • Item as described (for sellers only)
• Verification badges 
• Highly Rated badges

What is a Verification badge?

As part of this update, we've introduced some new verification badges to help build trust between users. They are as follows:

	Phone Verified: User has verified their phone number
	Gumtree Pay Verified (KYC): User has completed identity verification via Gumtree Pay

These badges will appear on applicable user profiles to help you make more informed decisions.

What is a Highly Rated badge?

The Highly Rated badge on a Gumtree profile indicates that a user has been rated positively and consistently by others on the site. It is a mark of trust that helps your ads stand out to potential buyers and sellers. To receive a Highly Rated badge you must: Receive at least 3 ratings from different users The average of your ratings must be greater than 4.0 The badge is applied to a profile automatically once the above conditions have been met.

Can I leave a written review?

Not just yet. Right now, you can leave a star rating only.
The ability to leave a written review is planned for the future.

How do I rate another user?

Depending on whether you're the buyer or seller, you'll see the option to rate a user in three possible places:

• Directly in your message thread with them, you'll see a "Rate Buyer" button near the top of your chat.
• When marking your listing as sold.
• When deleting your listing.

You'll be asked to:

• (If deleting your ad / marking it as sold) Select the buyer
• Select a star rating (1-5 stars)
• Optionally select any relevant experience attributes (e.g. communication, reliability)
• Submit your rating

How do I view my ratings?

To view your ratings:

• Go to Manage Ads: https://www.gumtree.com.au/m-my-ads
• Click on "View my full profile" on the left hand side

• Click on the "Reviews" tab

Can I report a rating?

Yes. You can report a rating if you believe it is:

• Fake/misleading
• Abusive
• Contains inappropriate content
