Gumtree aims to facilitate pet adoption, rehoming and trade in a safe and responsible manner that benefits both people and animals. Animal welfare is a huge priority for Gumtree, and that is why we work in collaboration with government agencies, law enforcement and animal welfare organisations to help prevent, identify and discourage illegal or irresponsible pet sellers.
We have introduced a number of improvements to the Pets category and encourage prospective owners to read the RSPCA’s Smart Puppy and Kitten Buyer Guides before acquiring a pet. Gumtree has also worked with the RSPCA to support the development of guidelines for the online advertising of pets.
We encourage users to select Report Ad if they see a listing that concerns them or may not comply with our Pets Policy. Reported listings are reviewed and appropriate action is taken where required. Community reports play an important role in helping us keep Gumtree safe and responsible.
