Recalls: Seller Responsibility

As a seller on Gumtree, you are responsible for ensuring that any goods you list or sell are safe and comply with applicable product safety and consumer protection laws.

This includes taking reasonable steps to stay informed about relevant product recalls, safety warnings, and consumer protection information. We encourage sellers to regularly review updates and announcements published on our Government Announcements page.

If a product you have listed or sold becomes subject to a recall, you must take appropriate action in accordance with relevant laws and regulatory guidance. This may include:

  • removing the listing from Gumtree
  • contacting or notifying any buyers who may be affected
  • following any instructions provided by the manufacturer or regulator

Taking prompt action helps protect buyers and supports a safer marketplace for everyone.
